We are happy to provide listings for your community.  The birth professionals listed have endorsed the Military Birth Resource Network's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and where applicable they have a base license. These professionals endorse our goal to make a positive difference for pregnant women, new mothers, and their families through education, nurturing, and advocacy while fostering respect, knowledge, and integrity among professionals everywhere.

Find  a birth or postpartum doula. There are a range of levels of experience for doulas from the newly trained doula to a doula with many years experience.  There are a range of "well seasoned" to "brand new" doulas to fit your needs. Doulas listed on our website do not work for MBRN or the Local Chapter.  We support a mother's right to choose the type of birth that is right for her - un-medicated, medicated, cesarean, VBAC, home birth, hospital birth, or birth center birth.  Every woman will choose birth practices that she feels is right for her and regardless of those choices, our goal is to support her during this incredibly important time.  There are variations in philosophies and practices in the professionals listed in our member guide.  The doulas within our network are trained by a national or internationally recognized organization.  It is the responsibility of each consumer to verify the credentials of each professional.  MBRN encourages consumers to interview professionals to determine which professional is the right person for their needs.  Some doulas may provide volunteer services while others will charge a fee for service, MBRN does not regulate a doulas' fee but the network does encourage doulas participating in this program to consider each families' situation and circumstances.

I am an Army wife and mother to four wonderful children, ages 21, 18, 15 and 5 years old.

I have been teaching the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth Classes for twelve years and I serve as a birth doula as well.   I can also provide placenta encapsulation services.

I strongly believe in a woman's ability to birth her baby and love being able to support women during this amazing time.  I understand that a woman's birth is the single most memorable experience in her life.  I want to help prepare women to create a positive, empowering birth experience that they can look back on with joy.

I have used the Bradley Method to have natural births with each of my children.  The first two were born in the hospital and the last two were home births.  I believe being knowledgeable and prepared for birth helped me have an amazing experience.  I soon realized when visiting with many other women, that their births weren't a positive experience.  I want to help other women to have the knowledge and skills needed to have a beautiful birth the first time around.  I know how important birth is for the health of both mom and baby and the family bonding experience.  I truly believe that what I do through my childbirth classes, doula and placenta encapsulation services makes a meaningful difference for families and that brings me much joy.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma.  My doula and childbirth education accreditations are from the American Academy of Husband-Coached Childbirth (AAHCC).   I have also earned an additional doula certification through ToLabor.  I regularly attend conferences and workshops to improve my skills and expand my knowledge base.  I have received training in rebozo, spinning babies, acupressure techniques, birth assistant skills, essential oils, and massage techniques for labor.  Additionally, I am certified in Neonatal Resuscitation.   I am a current member of the Northern Virginia Birth Matters Chapter and Improving Birth Network.

As a military wife and mother of 12 children, I have attended births since 2012, and loved birth since I had my first child while still an undergrad at Brown University. Each birth is singular, powerful, beautiful, and I bring all my experience, wisdom, and training to bear as I support a family's intimacy and joy in welcoming a new life into the world.

My passion is helping parents have a successful and memorable birth experience as they welcome their new baby into the world. I especially enjoy helping those parents who may be away from their family, as I know how hard it can be to journey through pregnancy and birth separated from your typical support system. My goal is to help mothers let go of controlling their labor while remaining in control of their birth.

I provide one free consultation which allows us to get acquainted and come to a decision as to if you and I are a good fit. We can discuss anything at this visit while we learn what you are looking for in a doula and what your goals are for the upcoming birth. We can meet at a coffee shop, your local library, or your preferred place to relax.
