Birth workers and friends, As we close out March and World Doula Week, we wanted to take a moment to recognize the Doulas in our network that have been working tirelessly to support our military families. You have been doing this work for years, for some of you decades! You have been doing this work as a civilian near a military base. You have done this work as a military spouse through PCSing and all the other things military life throws at us. You have done this work through your transition from active duty to civilian life. You have supported births at military hospitals, military housing, birth centers, civilian hospitals, and even cars! You have given your time and experience and love to military families far away from close friends and families. YOU have done all of this and more. This week and all the weeks, we celebrate you and the babies and families you’ve supported.
Our organization started with Doulas, and since then we have grown to include all varieties of perinatal supporters. This week, we wanted to sit and reflect on our roots - on our doulas - and say THANK YOU! This may never be enough to highlight the good work you all are doing, but know that here at MBRNPC, you have a group that is working hard to ensure that you can support military families to the best of your ability and we are endlessly grateful for you.
